Context:

You will be part of the Global Risk Analytics team (8 people) who is in charge of the Market Risk monitoring and advisory of the GEMS (Global Energy Management) Business Unit of ENGIE and its regulated entity EGM (Engie Global Markets).

You will evolve in a collaborative team that thrives in a dynamic, technology and data driven environment. Your contributions will directly impact our commitment to excellence and innovation within the Risk Expertise center of GEMS.

We are committed to producing and reporting of key risk metrics, providing timely insights to relevant stakeholders across the organization. As stewards of risk governance, we design and maintain robust frameworks for market risk measurement, limit setting, and control, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Collaborating closely with trading desks, operating in a global environment in the fast changing Commodity World, we foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across regions and business lines, leveraging diverse perspectives to enhance risk awareness and decision-making with our priority objective to uphold the integrity of GEMS & EGM risk management framework.

Our expertise in market risk management extends to the development, enhancement and validation of risk models, systems, and processes, driving continuous improvement and innovation, partnering tightly with Quant Risk & Front Office as well as IT teams.

Role:

As a Senior Risk Officer, you hold a pivotal position within our organization, overseeing the identification, assessment, and management of risks across all facets of our operations. Your role encompasses strategic leadership, risk governance, and the development of robust risk management frameworks while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Governance: Lead the development and implementation of EGM/GEMS risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks. Establish risk appetite statements and tolerance levels in alignment with our strategic objectives and regulatory obligations.

Risk Assessment and Identification: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify and prioritize potential risks facing the organization. Utilize advanced risk assessment methodologies and tools to evaluate the likelihood and impact of various risks on our business operations.

Risk Monitoring and Reporting: Implement robust risk monitoring processes to track key risk indicators and emerging threats in real-time. Prepare regular risk reports and dashboards for senior management and the board of directors, providing timely insights and recommendations for risk mitigation.

Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of regulatory developments and industry best practices related to risk management. Ensure our organization's compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards governing risk management, reporting, and disclosure requirements.

Risk Culture and Awareness: Promote a strong risk-aware culture throughout the organization by fostering open communication, transparency, and accountability.

The role includes mentoring junior members of the team to foster their professional growth and ensure the continuity of expertise within the organization.

Hard skills:

  • Must have: Strong understanding of risk management principles, methodologies, and best practices. Proficiency in quantitative analysis, statistical modeling, and risk assessment techniques. Strong programming skills, with proficiency in languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB and familiarity in databases and API.
  • Good to have: Regulatory Knowledge: A thorough understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing risk management is essential for ensuring compliance and mitigating legal and regulatory risks.
  • Soft skills:

  • Must have: Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead and mentor junior team members
  • Good to have: Project Management Skills: Project management skills are useful for managing complex risk management initiatives, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring timely completion of projects within budget and scope.
  • Education and professional background:

  • Master's degree in finance, risk management or a related field. Additional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CFA are advantageous.
  • 7+ years of experience in Market Risks, preferably in a Banking or Utilities company in a Trading environment. Previous experience in a leadership or senior management role is highly desirable.
