Job Description:
The Field Applications Engineer (FAE)role is an important position responsible for both pre and post-sales supportof Macom European semiconductor center MESC. Pre-sales tasks include securing design wins with Macom products,delivering technical presentations, demonstrating Macom technology, respondingto technical inquiries and helping to define a winning product pitch. Post-sales tasks include hardware and softwaredesign support, lab debug, training, and helping to ensure a smooth ramp tovolume production. The successfulindividual will have a strong background in semiconductor communication devices.
Primary Job Functions:
Regular site visits to existing customers and potential new customers.
Identify new design and product upselling opportunities.
Align customer design requirements with Macom products and technology.
Provide guidance and input for customer proposals.
Give technology demonstrations with Macom evaluation boards and reference designs.
Assist customers with architecture, schematic and layout activities during design.
Develop the product validation environment including hardware and software.
Validate the product in its end application and writing of validation reports.
Collaborate closely with the wider team involved in the product development.
Creation of collaterals such as application notes, product presentations, publications, etc.
Provide training to the sales and marketing organization.
Provide customer and field support on new and existing products.
Provide onsite support to quickly isolate and resolve hardware and software problems during design bring up and debug.
Train customers and distributor FAEs on the benefits and features of Macom products.
Be an advocate for Macom products and technology.
Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or PHD in Electronic Engineering
knowledge in the field of semiconductors and different design (power amplifier PA, low noise amplifier LNA, CoreChip CC, Mixer, Trans-Impedance Amplifier TIA…)
Desire to learn and develop
Good communications skills
Excellent problem solving and debug skills
Knowledge of bench equipment like network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, RF sources, power meters
Ability to work in a fast paced, project-oriented team environment
Can-do attitude

Self-motivated with ability to multi-task and work independently
Desirable Skills:
PCB experience (design, schematics, layout, signal integrity, component selection)
Peripheral design experience (power distribution/filtering, clocking, microprocessors)
Familiarity with the following software: Python, C, C++, Jupyter, Pads PCB, Cadence, ADS, Ansys, Matlab
