Role Overview:

The Technology Analyst will play a crucial role in evaluating and scouting cutting-edge technologies related to Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) and Carbon Direct Recovery (CDR). This position involves understanding the value chain, identifying growth opportunities, assessing risks, and contributing to strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering, technology assessment, and market intelligence.

Assignment:

12 to 15 months

Operation reporting to Technology & Innovation (Gauthier Perdu, Alban Sirven). Functional reporting to Expertise & Solutions

Responsibilities:

  • Scouting and Opportunity Assessment, Market Intelligence: Scout for technology growth opportunities across various sources: Developers Start-ups Universities R&D Centers Identify promising technologies aligned with organizational goals. Gather market intelligence from various sources: Agency reports Venture capital (VC) reports Press agencies Competitor analysis
  • Evaluation Studies, Data Analysis and Modeling: Conduct in-depth evaluation studies for identified opportunities: Techno-economic analysis (TEA) Risk assessment Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations Produce figures, facts, and comparison tables. Develop simplified economic and technology models using tools like Excel. Simulate technology scenarios as needed.
  • Reporting and Communication: Write comprehensive reports, debriefing notes, and white papers for senior leadership, Technology & Innovation and Business Lines. Prepare presentations for the Head of Technology (HoT).
  • Identifying Technological Gaps: Identify gaps in technology adoption that hinder the organization’s position in CDR and CCU. Propose strategies to bridge these gaps.
  • Scouting Prioritization: Participate in scouting exercises to prioritize technology focus areas and targets.
  • Intellectual Property (IP) and Patents: Whenever possible, contribute to growing intellectual property. Write patent applications and assess risks related to third-party IP. Defend the organization’s IP
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Coordinate actions and connections with Technology Heads and Technology Managers. Collaborate with experts and R&D Centers responsible for programs and project execution.
  • Qualifications:

    Qualifications expected for the ideal candidate for the position of Technology Analyst (CCU & CDR):

  • More than 10 years of experience as a senior or principal process engineer. 
  • Strong Interest in Technology Assessment, benchmarking and innovation
  • Familiar with solutions in an international environment 
  • Problem-Solving Skills:
  • Good understanding of the problematic issues related to CCU and CDR.
  • Ability to evaluate uncertainties and assess critical topics effectively
  • Rigorous and Adaptable:
  • Attuned to the complexities, pressures, and challenges associated with a fast-moving international services business operating in a highly competitive market.
  • Comfortable working closely with experts, providing intelligent, insightful, and valuable technical advice and support.
