Sustainability Design Engineer

The Secure Power Sustainability Team is looking for a Sustainable Design Engineer to help ensure that product offers are developed to deliver improved sustainability profiles and lower carbon footprints, as well as to conform with regulatory and other corporate sustainability requirements. Responsibilities Support global product design teams to improve the sustainability profiles of new products by: Assisting in defining Sustainability design objectives Providing sustainability expertise on complex topics, such as carbon accounting, Life Cycle Assessments, Eco-Design Assessments, and the evolving compliance landscape Validating achievement of Sustainability design objectives Conducting compliance reviews Supporting the development of sustainability proof-points for marketing use Develop and/or evolve design standards, tools, and processes that enable product design teams to perform basic tasks independently Evolve the division’s strategy to meet compliance obligations across geographies Collaborate and provide sustainability subject matter expertise in R&D projects focused on development of new technologies to improve the sustainability of products & solutions Minimum Qualifications 3-5 years’ experience as Sustainability Engineer or similar role with experience in Carbon Accounting and generating Life Cycle Assessments Excellent communication skills with ability to simplify complex issues to facilitate understanding, including with non-engineering colleagues. Fluent in English. Detail-oriented with the ability to catch minor errors which can result in major problems Be bold in actions, but also have willingness to be open to experiment with new approaches to find solutions to problems Additional Or Preferred Qualifications Product design and product assessment experience, preferable in the technology space Understanding of technology and associated operational environmental impact Basic understanding or strong aptitude to learn/understand sustainability related policies, regulations, standards, and literature Good understanding of the circular economy’s impact on sustainable engineering Ability to influence decision making and gain support across diverse teams Availability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% At Schneider Electric, Diversity & Inclusion is at the heart of our organisation, it's an integral part of our history, culture, and identity.
