Senior Product Developer

Our purpose is to positively impact people’s lives every day in every home around the world! We work very hard to provide our consumers with high-quality, exciting 5-star products that make life easier. We thrive on passion and innovation and are looking for great people, with great ideas, who want to build the next big thing and develop while they do.

The Product Development organization within SharkNinja drives our global product roadmap from concept to shelf through the constant lens of the consumer. We are the “product CEOs” and partner cross-functionally with almost every other team within the company to drive high satisfaction for our end users and to drive business results. We are comprised of individuals from a variety of professional and educational backgrounds, from product marketing managers to consumer-focused engineers – but we all have one thing in common: we’re consistently striving to deliver a 5-star experience for every customer on every product we bring to market.

About the role:

The Senior Product Developer will lead the development of successful and profitable programs for key products to ensure the continued growth of the current portfolios as well as the establishment of new launches for the Coffee category. This role is expected to be the market expert in their product lines, research and understand the competitive landscape, retailer assortments that will meet the needs of the changing consumer and retailer requests.

Here are some of the exciting things you’ll be doing:

  • Drive early-stage product development. You’ll be helping to build up a product roadmap to grow our existing Ninja Coffee category with desirable, feasible and viable new products.
  • Explore new product categories. In addition to growing our existing categories you’ll also be involved in scoping new exiting categories we believe the Ninja brand can win in.
  • Ideate novel product concepts. You’ll be working in a fast-paced, innovative and collaborative environment to generate new product ideas. You’ll be expected to communicate these concepts clearly, expressing their reason to be and the benefits they provide to our customers. Communicating for impact.
  • Sketch and Build. Clearly demonstrate your concepts in the fastest and simplest way to gain excitement and buy in across the business… produce sketches, models, prototypes or test rigs to an appropriate resolution for the maturity of the project. We have a wonderful workshop facility on site here in Battersea and expect our Design Engineers to be as comfortable with a bandsaw as they are a CAD license. Progress over perfection.
  • Collaborate. Solicit cross functional feedback from a variety of perspectives across our global sites to refine and crystalise the product definition. You’ll be expected to passionately defend ideas that you believe will delight our customers while also being open and receptive to input from the wider team. Winning is a team sport.
  • Develop the product. Identify and tackle the biggest, fundamental risks first to ensure the limits of the product are well understood. Develop and execute test methods that allow you to benchmark products and test prototypes methodically and repeatably. Details make the difference.
  • Use your experience and instinct to continually improve the way we work. Rarely satisfied.
  • Here are some of the things you'll bring:

  • You are a well-rounded designer/engineer: creative, technical and practical.
  • Creative – you think the unthinkable. You can piece concepts together from a wide range of experiences and knowledge, combining elements most people wouldn’t think could be combined. After all, “an idea is nothing more or less than a new combination of old elements”. You can communicate these ideas quickly and effectively through sketches and physical models.
  • Technical – you’re concepts and ideas are grounded in a broad understanding of engineering principles across mechanical, electrical and manufacturing. You can defend an amazing idea with sound theory or examples of how it could work using adjacent product examples or quickly built prototypes.
  • Practical – demonstrable hands-on skills to turn thoughts, ideas and sketches into quick prototypes, models and proof of concept test rigs.
  • You’re a doer. You have a bias for action and make things happen. You fail fast, learn and pivot. You can anticipate potential barriers to your project and pro-actively work through roadblocks to keep projects moving at pace. When the unexpected happens you’re resilient and maintain a positive attitude.
  • You are organized and logical and have an ability to identify what work needs to be done and in what order to clear a path through the unknowns. When complex decisions need to be made you can simplify and provide an informed recommendation.
  • Around 5 years experience within a design or product development environment.
  • Experience within the consumer electronics space is desirable.
  • A track record of delivering products to market.
  • An understanding of plastics and metals mass production techniques.
  • A degree level design and/or engineering qualification.
  • Proficient in CAD – Solidworks or CREO.
  • #LI-HYBRID #LI-WH1
