Research engineer in Cold Rolling and Annealing Decarbonization

'At ArcelorMittal Maizières Process, you will join Downstream Processes (DP), a multi-cultural cluster composed of 40 engineers and technicians organized in three teams, working on the development and deployement of process solutions for ArcelorMittal. 
You will be part of the Decarbonization & Finishing Processes team composed by 10 researchers working on innovative solutions to decarbonize finishing processes and support process and quality teams to ensure client requirements are answered.

Your role

In this position, you will be in charge of R&D projects related to the development & deployment of solutions to master processes to produce steels with a focus on Cold Rolling and Batch Annealing processes, and for decarbonization purposes. 
Immediately, you will be involved in the following activities:

  • Contribute in R&D projects dedicated to the development and application of physical and numerical models, as well as their laboratory trials and industrial validations, especially for Batch Annealing decarbonization
  • Develop and conduct Cold Rolling activities via physical Modelling, simulations and experimental trials and validation in plants 
  • Support different sites of ArcelorMittal in a worldwide perimeter to improve process conditions in existing lines (capacity, reliability, costs) : manage industrial trials, numerical simulations and process analyses.
  • Support new product developments, including new steel grades.
  • Participate actively to the digital transformation of the company

Business travels will allow you to work with partners in a worldwide perimeter and to experience different working cultures.

Your profile

  • Master degree or PhD degree in mechanical engineering or materials engineering
  • Knowledge in physical modelling 
  • Excellent programming skills and proficiency in C/C++, .Net as well as in Python for data analytics 
  • Experience with Abaqus or an equivalent software would be a plus. 
  • Advanced levels of English and French
  • You are innovative, curious and result-oriented 
  • You have excellent communication skills as well as social skills to work in project teams within a multi-cultural environment 
  • Ability to travel worldwide
