We are looking for a R&D Engineer / PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Based in the plant / production site, with entrance and very closed work with the international R&D centre (also in Pont-Evêque), you will collaborate with all departments in the plant and with our sister plant in Italy.

  • Lead or contribute to Product development projects as defined by Business Unit R&D Manager (Based in Italy)
  • Enable speed-up of development and industrialization of new release liner products and portfolio differentiation projects for the BU assets
  • Contribute to idea generation to feed the BU pipeline
  • Support plants and R&D team on cost saving recipe optimization and cross fertilization between BU plants
  • Contribute to the sustainability strategy in terms of Ecodesign, increased circularity, LCA Life cycle assessment
  • Execute product validation testing at each stage to verify requirements are met, analyze data, and troubleshooting issues, and iterate on designs.
  • Document all phases of product development with the PPM tool (R&D software), take care of project or sub-project timelines, milestones, budget and relevant product development KPIs
  • Follow-up with Quality and customer services first industrial runs, internally or within our pilot customers, in order to ensure good product performances
  • Act as team member for new product development projects, stay current on the latest technologies, regulations, and competitive offerings.
  • Follow Group policies and processes within product development activities
  • Provide technical support to production lines and, if requested, to customers, supporting Sales and Marketing
  • Support product and process improvements in the plant
  • Support the Sourcing department in achieving cost reduction targets and in qualifying back up suppliers
  • Support the plant in order to achieve safety/environment targets, as well as quality and efficiency performances
  • Participate to our Intellectual Property policy by preparing invention of disclosures
  • Set up new test methods to validate products (internal or external laboratories) & propose new equipment investments.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable group policies
  • Travel internationally and domestically as needed
  • Skills & knowledges :

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer sciences or paper/textile technology
  • At least 3 years of experience in an industrial product development environment
  • Creative thinking and technical capability to come up with new ideas /curiosity
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Fluency in French and English (Italian is a plus)
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational skills and rigorous
  • Positive attitude
  • Project Management skills
  • Equally at ease in a lab or on a production machine.
