Lead DevOps Engineer

Our R&D team gathers 60+ engineers divided into 10+ squads. They are paramount to 360Learning’s response to our increasingly demanding customers and are strategic players for the growth of the company.As a Lead DevOps you will coach our DevOps team (5 engineers) and help with all aspects of the job, such as platform engineering, infrastructure design, operation and maintenance, and coordinate the delivery timeline with stakeholders. Hands-on, you’ll keep working as an individual contributor since management should take approximately 50% of your time. Your coach will be the VP of Technology.

Within 1 month, you will:

  • Complete the 360Learning onboarding and the technical onboarding
  • Complete the coach training to take the Lead DevOps position successfully
  • Get involved in the team rituals
  • Within 3 months, you will:

  • Follow and coach the individual contributors of your team
  • Evaluate the well being of your team and suggest ideas to keep it up
  • Start identifying your team's key strengths and areas of improvement to help them grow
  • Lead Performance Reviews and Career Path assessments calibration 
  • Work with VP Tech and CTO on maintaining your team’s engagement at the fullest
  • Make sure that the internal processes of the team are clear, documented, and followed
  • Facilitate the resolution of issues or challenges the DevOps team are facing, including communication or organizational issues
  • Coordinate the definition of your team OKRs, and discuss within the tech for a better alignment
  • Participate in hero rotations (monitoring the production and processing anomalies and incoming requests), and in on-call duty
  • Within 6 months, you will:

  • Become an influencer outside of your team, which includes to:
  • Communicate on your successes, challenges, and roadmap
  • Share best practices and recommendations
  • Create your own courses on the 360Learning platform
  • Suggest and implement process improvements in the team
  • Make sure that the impact of each individual contributor is maximized
  • Maintain a good team spirit, for instance by organizing team-building activities (sync or async)
  • Ensure your team is able to deliver value on time and with the necessary level of quality and take your part in this delivery
  • Work with the VP Tech, CTO and other technical squads to define a technical vision and a direction for your squad.
  • Participate in transversal initiatives ( organizing Hackathons)
  • Within 12 months, you will

  • Share process improvements with all the squads, and help them implement these changes
  • Push for technical innovations in the team and outside
  • Identify the career next steps of your team members and define an action plan to reach them
  • The Skill Set

  • You have 5+ years of experience, including 2+ years as a coach/mentor
  • You know how to run systems in production with high availability and SLA
  • You are used to working with some cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP…)
  • You can play with containers and are familiar with automation and IaC
  • You have a coding background (scripting, programming)
  • You have already participated in the definition of short and long term objectives for a team and you are convinced that OKR, roadmap, planning can help improve the impact & efficiency of a team
  • You embrace a continuous improvement mindset through continuous feedback, retrospectives, postmortems
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Fluent English (US/UK) / B2 level or equivalent (FR)

  • Cloud: Azure Cloud (experience required on either Azure, AWS or GCP)
  • Containers: Docker, Kubernetes (experience required)
  • Infra as Code: Terraform, Ansible (experience required)
  • Monitoring tool: Datadog (experience required with monitoring)
