Job description
Reporting to Infovista CFO, the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Director works closely with C-Suite to increase a company’s efficiency and profitability by assisting with the formulation of both the medium and long-term financial plan.
The task of forecasting a company’s financials requires both an understanding of the company’s historical performance as well as an understanding of the key assumptions and trends that may impact future performance. This requires a broad understanding of both accounting and business operations in close relationship with all internal business stakeholders.
In this role, you will be the “eyes and ears” of the organization and your job is to make a liaison between the corporate and operations teams. As such, FP&A leader interfaces with the Exco members, with the CFO and the CEO.
You should provide the CFO enough information to answer key questions from external/internal stakeholders and may identify various levers that can be pulled to optimize performance or meet certain goals.
Job duties and responsibilities:
The FP&A Directors performs a wide range of duties that may include, but are not limited to:
• Work with Business Unit heads to build their annual budgets and forecasts
• Producing models to project long term growth and determine the impacting business factors
• Analyzing financial and operational results, create a cadence and being the owner of this routine
• Communicate to senior management the reasons behind the product/department performance and results
• Communicating results and recommendations to senior management for improvements that will lead to cost reduction, revenue generation and streamlining operations
• Provide detailed analysis on revenue performance, margins, costs, Ebitda
• Reviewing operations and recommending new productivity or cost saving initiatives
• Preparing business cases to support business decisions
• Reviewing existing processes and procedures to develop recommendations for improvement efforts
• Evaluating previous budgets, expenditures to develop and implement future budgets
• Provide insights to senior management around financial modelling, forecasts and profitability
• Create a best-in-class team focusing on high quality delivery reports and analytics to financial team and key internal stakeholders
• Provide solid data and analytics to external advisors in the context of M&A activity, being able to supplement the CFO in those activities
• Being the architect and driving force to assessing capital allocation (results vs. resources) by product, by region, by organization
• Utilizing BI tools to delivery meaningful insights into business performance
Profile
Skills and attributes:
The more common skills and attributes that are needed for this role include:
• Minimum 10/15 years of relevant experience: ideally 3 to 4 years in audit firms (transaction services or Audit), several years in M&A banking and successful FP&A experience in a tech. company
• Significant analytical skills and attention to details
• Thinker outside of the box and able to project long-term analysis/solutions
• Effective communication skills in French and English, ability to present with impact and connect the dots between business and finance
• Being a natural leader towards the CFO team (accounting, revenue management) and toward key internal business stakeholders
• Ability to perform “triangulation” and connect the dots between finance/operations/short-term constraints vs. long-term needs
• Able to improve current processes in FP&A Team by industrializing the processes and creating an on-going cycle of Data-Models and Analysis with a specific cadence (i.e. monthly end close). Provide in-depth understanding of the financial performance
• Experience of M&A activities: external growth, spin-off or carve-out, Exit strategy
• Training: master in business school, degree in finance or equivalent
• Proficient English and French
