Functional Safety Engineer

Job Purpose

As Functional Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for performing functional safety analysis of internally designed systems covering the complete safety lifecycle at system and SW level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform Item level HARA and Identify the safety functions
  • Capture the safety requirements and regulatory requirements to build the safety concept
  • Support implementation of safety mechanisms at the designs levels
  • Develop safety analysis using FTA, FMEA
  • Support the d evelopment of SW architecture for safety, including safety integrity levels allocation, freedom-from-interference analysis, dependent failure analysis
  • Derive safety mechanisms (e.g. Plausibility check, Memory protection) in application software and/or platform software
  • Support defining programming and coding guidelines for the software development teams
  • Support tool classification and qualification across Enersys’s software toolsets
  • Developing verification and validation methods to support testing of software safety mechanisms
  • Writing test procedures and supporting testing of software
  • Documenting all relevant software safety requirements, analyzes, architecture implementation, verification, and validation events for application software/or platform software for the Product
  • Qualifications

  • Degree education in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • Over 3 years of experience developing safety critical systems or safety critical software within the automotive or equivalent industries (e.g. Machinery, Aerospace …)
  • Experience with ISO 26262 and /or ISO 13849 and/or IEC 61508 or others
  • Experience with embedded systems
  • Experience with C programming and/or model-based design using Simulink
  • Experience with requirements management tools (e.g. Doors, etc.), and model based system engineering
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of integrity
  • Experience working within a cross-functional team
  • Proven experience working on multiple projects
  • Strong team player; drive to exceed expectations and meet deadlines
  • Additional experience working on LI Battery Management systems or Chargers is a plus
