Financial analyst - Controlling European Markets - (M/F)

The headquarters of the AXA Group (GIE AXA) brings together our corporate activities. It provides guidance and support to subsidiaries around the world, to ensure the coordination and monitoring of the Group's global strategy, the application of its standards, the consistency of commercial approaches and the sharing of best practices. The Department

Group Controlling is responsible for performance monitoring within the Group (FP&A activities). Its objective is to coordinate a regular dialogue with the entities in order to deliver to the Group Management Committee of AXA information on the financial, operational and strategic performance of the entities.

Group Controlling is made of 4 Regional Heads (or Head of Poles) based in Paris, under the supervision of the Head of Group Controlling. Each Head of Pole works with a team of Senior Associates and Analysts.

Group Controlling is working in close collaboration with local top Management (CEOs, CFOs, Heads of Controlling) and Group central functions (Corporate Finance, Accounting, Strategy, Risk Management, Investor Relations etc.). 

Role and Responsibilities :

The open position is within the team responsible for European Markets (Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Switzerland, UK)

The main part of the open position is dedicated to the financial controlling of the entities of the perimeter , 

  • Participate to the production of the monthly reporting provided by the entities as well as assist the entities in delivering the information if required.
  • Participate to of one or several transversal process of the team (, budget preparation, strategic plan, STIC assessment, target setting)
  •  Potentially lead processes within the team, coordinate with interactions with the key stakeholders and lead the deliverables preparation (, MC presentation)
  •  Analyse and challenge the financial and business information reported by the entities.
  • Identify and report the risks and uncertainties that could materially impact the results of the entities / Group;
  • Participate to the discussions and decisions which will have a financial impact for the Group notably forecasting and target setting;
  • Develop market and competitive intelligence;
  • Contribute to strategic projects that will arise from time to time;
  • Ensure an effective and smooth coordination and communication with the entities and other central functions.
  • These activities require project management skills, very good analytical skills and the desire to develop the technical and financial skills.

    Votre Profil

    The candidate is expected to have a financial background (ideally in controlling or actuarial topics), and have a strong appetite for business and strategy, and contributing to improving the performance of the entities.

    TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS  

  • Understanding of the insurance industry is preferred
  • Good understanding of finance and reporting principles, notably accounting and consolidation principles / standards and actuarial practices
  • Solid business and strategic sense
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to represent the Group in front of operating companies
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluent in English
  • SOFT SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES 

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (writing / speaking)
  • Ability to a work in a multicultural environment with people with diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to organize effectively and work under pressure
  • BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience: ideally 4-6 years of experience in financial services industry.
