You would like to play a role in aviation safety event investigation?

Airbus Helicopters being an approved Aviation Design Organization is obliged to ensure the continued airworthiness of all its helicopters in active flight service. To comply, all occurrences that are reported related to failures, malfunctions, defects or other occurrences are analyzed. Detected effects on flight safety must be addressed by appropriate protective and corrective measures on the affected fleet to guarantee the safe operation at all times or restore it as quickly as possible. The department “Continued Airworthiness” is coordinating all these activities for all military and civil helicopters of Airbus Helicopters.

As Continued Airworthiness Engineer you will get an insight on varied topics across electrical systems, avionics, auto pilot, flybywire,... on all overseen platforms that can have an effect on airworthiness, you will be accountable of the final technical decision taken by the company supported by all needed experts from relevant metiers. Dept will offer you also opportunity to move to other ATA chapters in the future. You will be mainly responsible to coordinate all parties involved in the process to enable the timely definition and implementation of suitable measures. In some cases these have to be harmonized with Aviation Authorities like EASA, DGA, .... Also the practicability by customers must be regularly taken into consideration. You will play a key role toward aviation safety within a plateau organization and be part of a very engaged squad onboarding people from design, quality and customer support.

Your challenges

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • To pre-analyze and assess internal or external incidents with regards to their potential effect on airworthiness

  • To attend the Incident Screening Committee (ISC)

  • To assess the hazard to the fleet in conjunction with Safety & Reliability and responsible design departments/ métiers

  •  Responsible to perform the obligation to report relevant occurrences to appropriate Airworthiness Authorities

  • To coordinate and support the root cause analysis within Airbus Helicopters and at suppliers

  • To organize, chair and lead the Major Incident Technical Board (MITB)

  • To define protective and corrective measures to safeguard airworthiness in collaboration with representatives of Engineering, Customer Support, Quality Assurance, Chief Engineering, Program Management, Flight Test, etc.

  • To present and harmonize topics impacting flight safety with relevant Airworthiness Authorities

  • To keep up-to date and fill out accurately the MITB data base

  • To align and follow-up the timely accomplishment of actions and measures defined by MITB

  • To compile working and conclusive documents for internal or external presentation

  • To be the focal point to Airworthiness Authorities for all continued airworthiness matters

Your profile:

  • Degree in (Aerospace) Engineering, knowledge in Avionic system, Electrical system  and/or Vehicle system is a plus

  • At least 5 years of experience within Design Office, in avionic/electrical systems is required

  • Ability to work transversely across departments, business units and multiple helicopter platforms

  • Good and fast comprehension

  • Team player with excellent communication skills and strong coordination and relational skills to deal with many different parties

  • Able to handle multiple topics/ incidents in parallel

  •  Autonomous, precise, reliable and solution-oriented attitude

  • Proactive and able to identify and realize improvements

  • French and English: negotiation level (spoken and written)
