About the Team:

The Director, Implementation Consulting directs the Implementation Consulting team for their assigned market segment. You will be responsible for the overall effectiveness and utilization of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • As team expert on delivery, educate and train other team members on the analysis, build, test methods, tools, templates and techniques of department deliverables.
  • Improve clinical development processes and support critical business strategies by managing the development, implementation, delivery, and maintenance of offerings in client environments.
  • Coach and mentor Implementation Consulting staff and maintain an effective and strong team and manager(s).
  • Foster development of different management levels within the team
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on best practice/business process development and maintenance.
  • Review project timelines, allocate resources and resolve project/priority conflicts.
  • Provide guidance and best practices to Implementation Services staff to increase and maintain technology adoption levels through organization.
  • Ensure that adequate technical documentation/reference materials are created and maintained within Professional Services.
  • Responsible for staffing to cover the functional needs of the team
  • Align & customize team goals, initiatives and objectives for functional area/team
  • Lead the strategic direction of the team
  • Create networks to connect teams together
  • Partner with other leaders across CS3

Management -

  • Direct reports including Manager/Snr Manager level
  • Own process initiatives
  • Define and align team objectives and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one/skip level and career development meetings with all direct reports.
  • Lead department staff meetings.
  • Define and drive the direction for the department and be accountable for its success
  • Be an example/role model to staff and managers on technical, professional and business acumen skills.
  • Collaborate with other CS3 leaders to develop strategy around delivering high value customer engagements
  • Work with senior management to provide input on strategic direction, team needs and support requirements.
  • Representation in Executive level & management meetings to provide periodic departmental update to Management with metrics and overall team status
  • Be an escalation point for customer engagements
  • Responsible for resourcing of entire functional area
  • Responsible for talent review including compensation review and leveling across functional area/team
  • Responsible for quality, delivery, and financial targets of functional area/team
  • Champion Medidata at internal and external conferences

Technology / Process -

  • Develop and maintain platform adoption framework offerings.
  • Interview and hire full-time resources and maintain job descriptions based upon approved business plans.
  • Participate in customer meetings in a consultative manner to support Knowledge Transfer and customer-side business process change, as customers begin adoption of the Medidata platform.
  • Participate / Chair lessons learned on all platform adoption projects to allow for formal review of delivered knowledge and adoption by sponsors.
  • Collaborate & align across all market segments/horizontals
  • Keep up to date with industry trends (best practices, direction, competitors)

Sales -

  • Participate in pre-sales cycle for prospective technology adoption clients to customize offerings based upon best practices.
  • Collaborate with Medidata Partners lead to ensure Partner Technology adoption is in sync with Sponsor framework.
  • Actively participate in all sales channels to assign in consulting leadership for prospective clients and review draft sales orders (SO) for scope.
  • Work with other teams to define/structure new PS offerings
  • Champion CS3 in all sales channels to assist in closing deals with prospective clients

Qualifications:

  • Excellent experience working with clinical trials in a data management-related leadership role, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of Clinical Trial processes, specifically as they relate to data collection, management, and preparation for statistical analysis
  • Strong understanding of data management plans/customer specifications for data entry screens, edit checks, custom reports and data integrations
  • Ability to work with technical R&D staff and translate new software features into real-world
  • Expert in computer usage in a web-based environment
  • Ability to think logically to solve complex problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organization and time management skills
  • Solid analytical and technical skills with regard to software applications
  • History of supporting project teams and meeting project timelines
  • Collaboration and team-building skills
  • Self-motivating, able to assume responsibility and work autonomously in a professional manner
  • History delivering training/workshops both internally and to customers.
  • Experience identifying/highlight and resolving issues
  • Knowledge of competitive landscape in clinical technology
  • Ability to travel to other office locations and customer sites
  • Experience leading a team in meeting business objectives through execution and delivery
  • Four-year college degree.
  • Experience working in a regulated, documented environment.
  • Superior organization and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • History of success delivering training courses both internally and to customers.
  • Ability to synthesize working procedures and to develop, document and deliver usable best practices in a software and/or pharmaceutical/clinical trial environment.
  • Experience implementing business process improvement initiatives and managing processes with continuous improvement approach.
  • Flexible, team-player approach.
  • 10+ years of professional work experience in best practice and process analysis/ development role.
  • 5+ years experience in clinical trials/data management environment on clinical trials.
  • 5+ years line management experience with direct, formal supervisory responsibilities including performance reviews, hiring, mentoring/coaching, etc.

As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $135,000-180,000.

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the California Bay Area is $141,750-189,000.

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the Boston Metro Area is $132,750-177,000.

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in Texas or Ohio is $118,500-158,000.

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in all other locations within the United States is $120,750-161,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
