We are looking for our Director, Accounting for our Continental Europe (CE), Middle East and North Africa (MENA) team . Your mission is to lead and oversee financial accounting operations for CE, driving efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. This role is based in one of our regional offices, requiring a deep understanding of financial accounting and a proactive approach to financial management.

You will report to the Vice President, Finance (CE & MENA, Lutosa & Van Geloven), and you will be part of the CE Finance Leadership Team . With the support of Finance Managers (who will report to you) and your colleagues, you will lead the accounting teams (including payroll) and you are responsible for IFRS reporting and related daily processes for the operating legal entities with CE & MENA. You coordinate with and are a contact person for other departments, the broader CE Finance Team, the shared service centers in India and Poland and Global departments like Corporate Accounting and Tax. 

The CE / MENA region includes approximately 20 operating companies for McCain reporting (IFRS) and an additional 10 non-operating companies for statutory reporting. 

Key responsibilities :

  • You manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing cycles and you are responsible for accurate and timely IFRS and statutory legal entity reporting. This includes coordination with local external auditors, tax advisors, statutory outsourcers, and local governments. The role also carries responsibility for compliance within the region and contact with Internal Audit. You work cross-functionally to collect all input needed for internal and external reporting, create a project plan, and ensure deadlines are met. A direct responsibility is also the accounting-related aspects, such as electronic invoicing, our new Travel & Expense solution (SAP Concur), reporting on environmental, social and governance (ESG) items and other projects as they arise.     Leading the design, implementation, and execution of projects which may include, but are not limited to, process redesign, system implementation, and other projects as assigned for accounting within CE & MENA, where you work with internal stakeholders to determine the accounting considerations of business decisions. 

    Providing direction, support, coaching, and career development to your team (all in support of our McCain Leadership Principles). 

    Managing external relationships for CE / MENA entities, like the external auditor, statutory outsourcer, tax advisors, governments, etc. This includes the annual closing meetings with the external audit and tax advisors.

  • Qualifications : 

  • 7+ years of experience in accounting (preferably at a multinational firm or company). 

  • You are passionate about developing your team, building relationships with regional finance teams, and enjoy accounting.

  • You have strong project management & communication skills, with an ability to manage multiple stakeholders. 

  • You have an extensive experience in financial accounting, preferably in a leadership position. 

  • You are well versed in financial regulations and accounting standards applicable to CE & MENA. 

  • Critical and logical thinking (first principles), financial analysis, and reasoning to identify and solve problems. 

  • Results-oriented with a bias to action and a continuous improvement mindset.
