Position Summary:

We are currently recruiting for a Costing Engineer to join our existing team within our Power & Industrial (P&I) Division. The successful candidate will be required to perform a variety of tasks which will include assisting in the preparation of pre-contract estimates / budgets for equipment and services manufactured and purchased from Europe.

As we are an international business, and this is a role with a European scope, it could be performed from any European location with good national and international transport links. Scope for flexible working arrangements, including working from home, is offered subject to the agreement. A degree of domestic and international travel may be required to fulfil the obligations of the role, therefore a valid passport and the ability to travel is essential.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost data for various departments to assist in job bids.
  • Analyse actual costs versus standard costs and prepare variance reports.
  • Prepare cost data for Projects following contract award.
  • Request and prepare standard cost prices for strategic fabricators and purchased parts.
  • Implement cost reduction ideas.

Person Specification:

Education, Qualifications and Affiliations

Essential

  • Level 4 in Engineering or other relevant technical subject.

Desirable

  • Degree in Engineering or other relevant technical subject.

*Completed qualifications from an accredited institution may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Licenses Or Certifications

Essential

  • Eligible to work in the UK, Spain or France.
  • Full valid passport.

Desirable

  • Full driving license.

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of calculating areas and volumes with accuracy and precision, whilst working under pressure when dealing with large projects often involving large capital value.
  • Understanding of design specifications and estimate pricing models, with the ability to approach problem solving with an analytical and balanced approach.
  • Proven experience in delivering targets and / or to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of providing high level of customer service.
  • Computer literate and able to use a wide range of software packages, particularly Excel.

Desirable

  • Previous experience gained within the industry or similar industries i.e. Mechanical, O&G, Energy and Power Generation.
  • Experience and working knowledge of AutoCAD.
