What you will do

Your future team :
Our "Controls for Driving" team of 8 engineers is part of "Electrical, Electronics Engineering and Vehicle Connectivity" department. It is responsible for the development of in-cab HMI components for the VOLVO group's various truck brands.

To this end, we are involved in writing specifications, selecting suppliers, and developing and testing products, to ensure that our products meet the Volvo Group's commitments in terms of performance, reliability, regulations, the environment, and so on.

The projects we are involved in lead us to manage various activities involving different and enriching professions (Design, Ergonomics, Vehicle Integration, Purchasing, etc.) and to work with suppliers all over the world (Europe, Asia, America).

Examples of HMI components within our scope include: Stalks Set under steering wheel, steering-wheel switches, air-conditioning Control panel, door controls panel, power outlets, USB chargers (enabling Apple CarPlay / Android Auto functions), engine start button, and electric handbrake control. 

You will :

  • Participate in getting technical inputsdata of all business interfaces.
  • Participate in customer surveys to understand drivers' needs and compile the results. 
  • Conduct sustainable development studies to evaluate our components in serial production and those under development.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions to generate new development ideas focused on sustainable development.
  • Participate in the selection of suppliers for components selected for new development using sustainable development technologies.
  • Participate in Technical Specification writting and project follow-up for these components.
  • Monitor bench and vehicle tests, compile results and present them to the team.
  • To help you progress, you will be supported by a tutor who is sensitive to environmental issues, and a 2nd-year apprentice engineer already working on these subjects.
